50 houses damaged in Soacha gang dispute

More than 50 residences were damaged in a gang confrontation in the municipality of Soacha, Cundinamarca department, Caracol TV reported Thursday.

The dispute occurred in the Quintas de Santa Ana area of the city, where hundreds of under-age adolescents, from unspecified local gangs, fought each other with rocks, sticks and machetes in a residential area, breaking glass and windows and damaging the doors of at least 50 apartments.

Parents and their children were forced to remain shut up in their houses until police arrived at the scene and were able to bring the situation under control.

Authorities detained a number of minors, who were later returned to their family members.

According to the report, the gangs have already planned another battle for the upcoming week.
