194 people vaccinated using dirty syringes

194 people in the Risaralda department are tested for HIV and
hepatitis, after authorities found out they had been vaccinated against the
AH1N1 virus using only three syringes.

The vaccination took place at a collage in the town of Marseilles, where the students and teachers were vaccinated against flu by an unauthorized woman amid fears of an outbreak of the virus that caused the death of 48 in Mexico and was confirmed in Colombia.

In a conversation with Caracol Radio, the department’s Health Secretary acknowledged that the people who were vaccinated now run the risk of having been exposed to viruses more dangerous than that of the so-called swine flu.

Health Secretary Javier Botero Locano said the victims will be subjected to several tests in the coming months to see if they caught anything because of the dirty needles.
