América beat Nacional in classic

by Adriaan Alsema October 27, 2008

América de Cali beat Atlético Nacional from Medellín 3-0,
revenging the lost game earlier this season. The reds knew to pass the
greens and are close to entering the top eight of the Copa Mustang.

Armero opened the score for América on thirty minutes and Gonzalez doubled the lead another four minutes later. The third and final goal came from Cortés in the 86th minute.

A week after securing their place in the next round, Tolima showed to be taking it easier at Once Caldas. The Manizales outfit won 2-0 with both goals scored by Ciciliano.

Junior Barranquilla were held to a 1-1 draw at 17th-placed Deportivo Pasto. Palacio did put Junior in the lead on 61 minutes but Gomez netted an unlikely equaliser in added time.

Independiente Medellín maintained their position in the top five with a 2-0 win over Deportes Quindío. Sanabria broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute and Pérez added a second to decide the clash well into added time.

La Equidad complete Bogotá three-team presence in the top eight with a 0-1 win at Atlético Bucaramanga. The only goal of the match came from Polo in the 71st minute.

Deportivo Pereira made a small drop and are now in 8th place, with a 1-1 draw at Atlético Huila. The home side took the lead through Guaza in the 12th minute but Quintero levelled six minutes after the half hour mark.

Boyaca Chicó are getting closer to the top eight with a 2-0 win over last placed Cúcuta Deportivo. The goals were both scored in the second half, by Galicia and Moreno respectively.

With no more than five points difference between number three and number 15 anything can still happen and so far only Tolima have secured a spot in the play-offs.
