Colombia nominates Italy, France ambassadors

Colombia’s government on Tuesday nominated new ambassadors to France and Italy.

The lawyer Juan Manuel Prieto was named as new ambassador to Italy, after former minister Andres Felipe Arias turned down the offer to be highest diplomat in the southern European country.

Arias’ nomination in September stirred controversy in Colombia as the former agriculture minister is under investigation for corruption.

Gustavo Adolfo Carvajal has been nominated as ambassador to France.
