Mexican authorities announced that both the name and age of the victim are the same as that of the 42-year old Wilson Ramirez Peña, a suspected member of Colombia’s largest guerrilla group. However, investigators say they haven’t been able to establish with certainty that the massacre victim is the alleged FARC guerrilla.
“Information was sent to consular authorities to verify whether this is the same person,” local investigators told press.
Ramirez Peña was killed on Sunday in a large scale attack on two neighboring houses where people were celebrating a birthday of a 15-year-old. Ciudad Juarez is one of the world’s deadliest cities because of a turf war between the Sinaloa and Juarez drug cartels.
