‘Alfonso Cano’ will also go down: Defense minister

Colombia’s defense minister said Saturday that FARC leader “Alfonso Cano,” who Friday warned the country his guerrilla group will “redouble action,” will go down just like other guerrilla leaders such as “Raul Reyes” and “Mono Jojoy.”

“Our military forces are very close to him,” said Defense Minister Rodrigo Rivera on RCN Radio.

According to Rivera, the FARC’s threat to “redouble actions” in 2011 “is nothing new.”

Cano made the announcement in a new year’s greeting on the video website YouTube.

The FARC, Latin America’s largest and oldest rebel group has been fighting the Colombian state since 1964.
