The tragic Aires airline plane crash in August 2010 was caused by human error, Colombia media reported.
Nearly a year after the fatal accident, investigators from Civil Aeronautics, the Colombian aviation authority, have concluded that pilot did not correctly adjust to the bad weather and high winds.
“The pilot entered at a low altitude and the strong winds knocked down the aircraft,” a source from the Security Council of Civil Aeronautics was quoted as saying by El Tiempo.
Aires flight 8250 crashed on the island of San Andres, breaking into three pieces. Original reports suggested the plane was hit by lightning.
Two people died and 114 more were injured. One of the victims, 11-year-old Maria Camila Angarita, caught the attention of the country by spending several days in critical condition before eventually succumbing to her injuries.
