Paramilitary group ‘Aguilas Negras‘ (Black Eagles) sent death threats
to former FARC hostage Alan Jara and prominent members of social
democratic party Polo Democrático.
“How can a person who was kidnapped for years end up defending the FARC and weaken our State,” the threat against Jara read, newspaper El Espectador reported Monday.
The threat arrived in the inbox of Carlos Bula, secretary of social democratic party Polo Democrático. Bula and other members of the political party were threatened themselves too.
The paramilitaries accuse Polo of being allies of Colombia’s largest leftist rebel group FARC and say Bula and party chairman Carlos Gaviria will be receiving “bullets”.
Prosecutor General Mario Iguarán confirmed the threats.
