Advisers tell Uribe not to go for third term

The recommendation was made by the leaders of the coalition parties in a meeting with the head of State.Representative Heriberto Sanabria of the Conservative party and one of Uribe’s political allies told RCN he expects the President soon to publicly announce he will not try to persue a re-election.The Conservative party will bring forth their own candidate for the upcoming presidential elections, expected to be held in 2010, Sanabria said.Uribe, who enjoys great popularity in Colombia, is under heavy political pressure after dozens of his political allies,  including his own cousin, were arrested for involvement with illegal armed paramilitary groups.
