A million tourists flock to Santa Marta during high season

Santa Marta, Colombia’s second largest beach destination after Cartagena, received a million tourists in December, traditionally the city’s busiest month.

According to local police, 967,701 tourists – both Colombian and foreign – entered the city during the holiday month.

The number of tourists visiting the coastal city saw a slight increase of 1.2% compared to the same period last year.
