A journey through the history of music in Cali’s first ‘Audioteca’

Have a look in your attic for old CD’s, LP’s, disk records and
cassettes and donate them to the first “Audioteca” of Cali. The history
of music shall not be forgotten.

Cali’s Ministry of Culture launched a campaign to collect music treasures of times when MP3 did not yet exist. We ask the community to donate any disk records they don’t listen to anymore, no matter which format, Norbey Guengue, director of the “Audioteca”, told El Tiempo Wednesday.

So far, 1750 disk records and seven cassettes have been collected from all corners of Cali.

The “Audioteca” also exhibits a portable gramophone of 85 years called “Decca Dulcephone”, turntables and a megaphone to show the history of music.

The idea of the campaign is that within two years anybody can listen to any song they want to in the “Audioteca”, Guengue concludes.

The “Audioteca” is located in the Centro Cultural in Cali and is open Monday to Friday from 8 am until 6 pm.
