Three suspected members of the FARC, caught in 2007 with proof-of-life videos of hostages, were formally accused on Monday of the kidnapping of three Americans.
The three U.S. military contracters were taken hostage by FARC rebels in February 2003 after the airplane they were in crashed in the Colombian jungle. They were released in a military operation in Jaque in July 2008.
The three suspected guerrillas were caught with proof-of-life videos of the hostages half a year before the release operation. The accused were on their way to take the videos to members of Colombians for Peace who were trying to broker the release of hostages.
