9 people assassinated in 3 southwest Colombia attacks

A series of three armed attacks in southwest Colombia’s Valle del Cauca department killed nine people and injured at least 10 others, Caracol Radio reported Tuesday morning.

In the department’s capital city, Cali, assassins shot at a group of young people from a motorcycle with automatic firearms in the city’s Agua Blanca district, killing four and injuring five others, who were taken to medical centers to be treated.

Authorities are searching for three local gang members who they believe to be responsible for the incident, identified by aliases “El Tortugo,” “Cara Cortada,” and “Davincho.”

A second incident took place in the municipality of Yumbo, located north of Cali, where three people were shot and killed by criminals with covered faces. Authorities believed the attack to be related to personal grievances.

The third case occurred in a dance club called Los Cubanitos in the municipality of Jamundi, south of Cali, where two people were killed and at least five others injured, who were taken to the Valle del Cauca capital to be treated.

The Cali police commander has asked for cooperation from residents in turning in any information that will lead to the arrest of those responsible for any of the three incidents.
