Some 80 Colombian businesses from the Caribbean coast financed the northern block of demobilized paramilitary organization the AUC, according to testimony by former paramilitary leader “Don Antonio.”
Edgar Ignacio Fierro Florez, alias “Don Antonio,” demobilized from the AUC and a participant in the Justice and Peace Process, was called to testify at the trial of former DAS director Jorge Noguera.
Noguera is on trial for his alleged role in the illegal wire-tapping of prominent Colombia politicians, journalists and trade unionists.
“Don Antonio” testified that the AUC had lists of people and businesses collaborating with the paramilitary organization, as well as the sums of money they contributed, El Heraldo reported Thursday.
According to ‘Don Antonio’ some of the most powerful businesses in Colombia, including Postobon Barranquilla, and a well known radio station were on the list.
