FARC kill 4 police in south Colombia

Four policemen were killed in two separate FARC attacks in southern Colombia’s Meta and Caqueta departments, news agency EFE reported Wednesday.

In the town of Vistahermosa in the Meta department FARC guerrillas left two bodies filled with explosives in the town. The Mayor of Vistahermosa said that “unfortunately, three soldiers were killed and four were wounded and authorities have tightened security.”

In the department of Caqueta, FARC guerrillas attacked the police station in the municipality of Puerto Rico, killing one officer and injuring three.

Last week the FARC announced that they “are ready to strike forcefully at the armed forces”.

Four other policemen were killed and three wounded Tuesday in the jungle area of San Jose del Gaviare, Guaviare department. Police Commander Hector Montenegro said that the policemen were eradicating illegal crops when the FARC guerrillas opened fire.
