735,000 Colombians affected by weather

The official number of Colombians affected by this year’s second rainy
season has been raised to 735,000. 28 of the 32 departments declared a
state of emergency to deal with the floods and landslides caused by
heavy rains.

The number of people killed because of the weather has been risen to 48. Nine are still reported missing.

The levels of Colombia’s two largest river, the Cauca and the Magdalena are still rising, sparking fears of more severe flooding in the areas close to the rivers.
