71-year-old castaway rescued by Colombian coastguard

A 71-year-old Puerto Rican man who spent three days adrift in the Caribbean was rescued by the Colombian coast guard, the navy said in a statement Saturday.

His wrecked boat was located off the Colombian coast northwest of the city of Santa Marta, 600 miles north of Bogota. He had been sailing towards Curacao, an island in the southern Caribbean.

The Puerto Rican, whose name was not disclosed, received medical attention for dehydration.
