7 guerrillas killed in hostage rescue attempt

Seven guerrillas were killed by the Colombian army during an attempt to rescue hostage Jose
Armando Acuña.

Army commander Oscar Gonzalez said that seven FARC guerrillas were killed in a confrontation with the army in the rural area of Anzoátegui, in the department of Tolima.

The army were attempting to rescue councilman Armando Acuña, who was kidnapped last Friday.

According to Gonzalez, the guerrillas killed were members of the FARC front that kidnapped Acuña.
