Battalion sent to combat FARC in Huila

A battalion of 600 seasoned soldiers will be sent to the south-western department of Huila to combat the FARC, RCN Radio reported Friday.

General Henry Torres, commander of the army’s 9th Brigade, said that the new 13th Battalion No. 13, Casique Timanco, will be sent to Huila to combat the FARC’s 17th Front, Angelino Godoy, and 66th Front, Joselo Losada.

The commander reported that the men who comprise the battalion have at least nine years of experience and are specialists in reconnaissance, sniping, weapons support, and demolitions and explosives.
