The Colombian army said on Saturday it killed at least six guerrillas of the FARC’s 6th front in the southwestern Colombian department of Cauca.
According to military sources that talked to newspaper El Espectador, the number of guerrilla casualties may rise as the army on Saturday evening was still involved in combat.
The military offensive in the rural area around the village of Caloto, 25 miles south of Cali, follows a number of attacks on the town that according to the army is using the civilian population as a human shield against army attacks.
