53 Colombian sporters qualified for Beijing Olympics

Colombian Sports federation Coldeportes provides 8 billion pesos (US$4 million) to prepare athletes for the Chinese Olympics, hoping to improve the performance of the national sporters.

During the last Olympics, in Athens in 2004, 54 Colombians represented their country, bringing home one bronze medal.

More athletes are still expected to qualify for boxing and athletics.
