52 suspected neoparamilitaries prosecuted throughout Colombia

52 suspected members of the neoparamilitary group “Los Urabeños” faced prosecution in Colombian courts around the country Friday, reported in newspaper El Heraldo.

Operations in the departments of Cesar, Cordoba and La Guajira led to the arrest of the 52 alleged 

Investigators believe that several high-ranking members and hitmen were among the 16 captured in the department of Cordoba.

The Urabeños are made up of former mid-level paramilitaries and are widely considered to be Colombia’s most powerful drug trafficking organization.
