500 Colombian mercenaries in Iraq: UN

Five hundred Colombian mercenaries are hired by the United States armed
forces and currently active in Iraq, a high United Nations official
said Tuesday.

The Colombians are part of 3,000 latinos currently in the Middle Eastern state fighting for the U.S., member of the United Nations work group on mercenaries told newspaper El Tiempo.

Most of the latino mercenaries are hired through U.S. companies who deploy the foreign staff in Iraq.
