5 killed in central Colombia shooting

A man fired “indiscriminately” at customers in a liquor store in central Colombia Sunday, killing five and wounding five others.

Between 9.30PM and 10 PM on Sunday night a man walked into a liquor store in Villavicencio, capital of the Meta department, and opened fire on the customers, reported newspaper El Tiempo. The killer fled the scene and police are still looking for him.

Five people were killed instantly and five others wounded, including, according to one witness, a pregnant woman. Of the five wounded, three were seriously injured and are in an “unstable” condition according to doctors.

According to radio station RCN, the police initially attributed the attack to battles between rival drug gangs but investigations are ongoing.
