5 killed, 15 injured in north Colombia bus accident

A bus accident in the north of Colombia left five people dead and 15 injured Sunday.

The cause of the accident on Sunday has not yet been determined but is suspected to be reckless driving and speeding. What is known is that five people died, including a six-year-old girl. Fifteen others were sent to various hospitals in Cartagena, some in critical condition, with the number of deaths expected to increase, according to Caracol Radio.

The public bus reportedly crashed into a van north of the Bolivar department, located between Caribbean cities Cartagena and Barranquilla.

Authorities shut down the road for hours and redirected traffic as ambulances whisked away the injured.
