4 bodies with signs of torture found in southwestern Colombia

Four bodies showing signs of torture were found in the southwest of Colombia Monday.

According to newspaper El Espectador, the bodies of four men aged between 25 and 28 years old were found with their hands and feet bound outside the village of Corinto, Cauca. The bruised bodies also had wounds that were likely inflicted with a knife.

The bodies have been taken to the morgue where efforts to identify them are being made.

The grim discovery comes a month after the neo-paramilitary network, the “Aguilas Negras” or Black Eagles, distributed a letter announcing that they were beginning “social cleansing” in the area, considered to be a stronghold of left-wing FARC guerrillas but also with a high number of indigenous who recently have fiercely protested gaainst the presence of all armed groups in the region.
