30 bodies found in mass grave in central Colombia

Thirty bodies were found in a mass grave in a rural zone in the central department of Guaviare. Authorities believe they may be the bodies of paramilitaries who died in combat.

According to a press release publicized by the DAS, Colombia’s FBI, the bodies were exhumed and are beleived to be members of the Guaviare Block of paramilitary organization the AUC.

29 of the bodies were found wearing uniforms, armbands and other items that identify them as paramilitaries, El Espectador reported Sunday.

The other body was identified by his family as Edilsio López Medina, a local from the area.

Authorities believe that the 29 alleged paramilitaries may ahve died in combat against the FARC in 2005, W Radio reported Monday.
