3 soldiers die in north Colombia minefield

At least three soldiers were killed and one was injured Sunday when accidentally detonating a landmine in the north-Colombian Norte de Santander department.

According to media reports, the soldiers were patroling near the town of Tibú when one of the soldiers stepped on the mine. The explosion triggered the explosion of nearby mines.

Authorities have said that the FARC’s 33rd front, active in that region, planted the mines.
