3 police die in southwest Colombia FARC attack

Three policemen were killed and one was injured in an attack by FARC guerrillas in a town in the southwest of Colombia, local media reported Sunday.

According to reports, a police patrol was ambushed by guerrillas just outside the town of Miranda, Cauca around 2PM.

The police say the attack was carried out by the FARC’s 6th front as an apparent revenge on the bombing of a camp Saturday that killed 15 guerrillas and injured two.

Colombian armed forces and FARC guerrillas regularly clash in the department of Cauca, which is considered part of the guerrillas’ heartland.
