28 governors investigated for corruption

Colombia’s Inspector General is investigating 28 of the country’s 33
governors for corruption or neglecting to fulfill legal obligations.

In an interview with newspaper El Tiempo, Inspector General Alejandro Ordoñez said the situation concerning corruption in Colombia is dramatic and that “they are robbing the country.”

Apart from the investigation of the governors, the Inspector General’s Office  is investigating 70 percent of the country’s 1101 mayors, the majority for irregularities in outsourcing.
