200 pounds of pot seized near Venezuelan border

Colombia’s army Friday reportedly seized 200 pounds of marijuana and arrested two drug smugglers in a small town near the border with Venezuela.

Soldiers reportedly stopped a car with Venezuelan plates in the village of Caño Guayabo, Arauca near Venezuela that was allegedly transporting 200 pounds of marijuana as well as approximately 3,500 coca leaves.

Two Colombian men in the vehicle were reportedly taken to the central jail in the northeastern Arauca department.

In a different operation in the middle of the Arauca department, the Colombian army reportedly found an 18.5-acre coca plantation who they claim belongs to the “Alfonso Castellanos” mobile column of the FARC which operates in the area.
