2 die in central Colombia plane crash

An ultralight plane crashed in a mountainous area of central Colombia on Tuesday leaving the pilot and a passenger dead.

The Colombian Civil Aviation Authority reported that the plane, registered as HJ 317 by the Aerosport affiliate company, crashed near the village of Charco Rico, near the city of Ibague in the central Colombian department of Tolima. Search and rescue teams used limited resources and were forced to travel by land due to weather constraints.

The cause of the accident is still being investigated and the identities of the dead have not been released.
