Other neighborhoods in Medellín are threatened by landslides as well. A landslide in the same area as El Socorro was hit by a landslide, damaging forty houses, but leaving no casualties.Dozens of families have been evacuated from the area, because their houses are on the verge of collapsing and the threat for another landslide is too big.Colombian President Álvaro Uribe inspected the rescue work in El Socorro. He already was in Medellín for the General Assembly of the OAS and reserved time to visit the neighborhood.
