15 survivors found alive after north Colombia landslide

Rescue workers found 15 of 20 persons who were feared dead after a landslide buried their homes in the north of Colombia on Thursday.

Following the landslide that struck houses in the village of La Ceiba in the Santander department, local media said 20 persons were unaccounted for.

The survivors were found by police and Civil Defense workers who immediately began searching the zone after the landslide took place.

According to authorities, the landslide in La Ceiba was accompanied by some 40 smaller landslides in the same valley where the road lies that connects the cty of Bucaramanga with the Caribbean coast. These landslides reportedly cost the lives of four locals.

Rescue workers continue searching for the two children and three adults that are still reported missing.
