15 FARC guerrillas captured in Cauca

Authorities announced Monday the capture of 15 alleged FARC guerrilla members across Colombia’s Cauca department

According to Colonel Carlos Rodriguez Cortes, commander of the Cauca police, the arrests took place in operations across four municipalities in the region, including Corinto and Toribio.

The detained rebels are allegedly members of the support structure for the FARC’s sixth front, supposedly lead by boss ‘Sargento Pascuas’. The group are believed to be responsible for the murders of nine soldiers committed some three weeks ago, reported newspaper El Tiempo Monday.

Police reports denounce the group as perpetrators of terrorist activity in the region and the detained members will face charges of terrorism and rebellion.
