13 kidnapped, 2 murdered in southwest Colombia

Thirteen people were kidnapped and another two were killed in Cumbitara, in the southwestern Colombian department of Nariño, the town’s mayor announced Wednesday.

Cumbitara Mayor Carlos Rodriguez said that 13 locals were abducted by a group of masked assailants.

According to the newspaper El Espectador, two victims were killed during the attack. Their bodies were reportedly thrown into the Patia River.

It has not yet been determined which armed group is responsible for the abductions.
