1200 displaced arrive in Colombian towns

The native Colombians arriving in the town of Toribíosaid FARC soldiers had fired mortar grenades at their town , killing one and wounding seventeen. The Colombian army has been fighting the FARC in that area increasingly for the past 15 days, using heavy artillery and with support of the Colombian Air Force.

Some 230 displaced arrived in San Agustín-Leone after walking for two days, having had to flee fighting between the FARC and the army in the rural zone of Paramillo. The town’s mayor, Carlos Maria Machado Gallo, exspects another 30 to 40 displaced to arrive during the day. All refugees will be housed locally, he says.
