11 ‘Aguilas Negras’ sent to prison

A Cucuta judge convicted eleven members of paramilitary group ‘Aguilas Negras’ Tuesday.

The paramilitaries were sentenced between three to four years in jail and were ordered to pay fines between US$150,000 and US$350 thousand.

The convicted made a deal with the prosecution, accepted all charges of conspiracy to commit crime and received therefore lesser sentences.

The convicted ‘Aguilas Negras’ operated in the rural area of Puerto Santander, Norte Santander Department.
