10 rebels arrested, 6 demobilize in southwestern Colombia

Colombian armed forces said they have arrested 10 FARC rebels in operations in the southwest of the country Saturday.

According to a press release, five members of the FARC’s Jacobo Arenas Mobile Column were arrested in Morales, a municipality in the north of the Cauca department.

Three more alleged members of the same unit were apprehended after they voluntarily surrendered to authorities in different parts of the Cauca department.

Another five suspected guerrillas, allegedly belonging to the FARC’s 29th Front, were arrested in Barbacoas, a municipality in the southwestern Nariño department.

Three rebels were said to have demobilized in the same municipality.
