10 die in central Colombia road accident

A road accident in the central Colombian Cundinamarca department left at least 10 persons dead.

According to general Rodolfo Palomino, director of Colombia’s highway police, said the bus of the Valle de Tenza bus company fell in a ravine after crashing against a slope.

The website of newspaper El Tiempo said that it seems the brakes of the bus stopped working and the driver tried stopping the bus driving against the slope.

“Approximately ten people lost their lives and another ten were injured,” Palomino told the newspaper.

Following its crash, “the bus broke in several parts,” a fire department spokesman added.

The injured passengers were taken to hospitals in the nearby town of Gacheta and the capital Bogota.
