More foreigners visit Bogota than other Colombian cities

About 52% of foreign tourists coming to Colombia choose Bogota as their main destination.

Colombia’s District Institute of Tourism revealed that in 2009, from January to November, over 630,000 tourists visited Bogota, compared to the 582,000 in 2008, Caracol Radio reported Wednesday.

Bogota Mayor Samuel Moreno said last year’s numbers made the city the place in Colombia most visited by foreign tourists.

"For the second consecutive year we have increased the number of visitors and Bogota was consolidated again as the main destination for foreign visitors to Colombia; we again came ahead of Cartagena and that is not easy," said Moreno.

The majority of visitors were from the United States, Venezuela, Peru, Spain, Ecuador and Uruguay.
