Colombia presents tourism plan for 2010

Tourism agency Proexport Colombia, presented Tuesday the proposed tourism plan for 2010 at a conference in Spain.

Nubia Stella, vice president of Proexport Colombia, revealed the tourism plan for the coming year, the emphasis of which is to demonstrate that Colombia is a safe country where the only "risk is that wanting to stay there."

Stella noted that after the implementation of the Democratic Security policies by current President Alvaro Uribe, Colombians themselves gradually began, "still in fear," to travel around their own country and as a result realized that it was safe and "restored their faith in Colombian tourism".

Stella explained that the presentation in Madrid was important because Spain is "a very important source market also it offers a quick link to promoting tourism in Colombia", reported news site Terra on Tuesday.

Under the slogan "Colombia, the only risk is wanting to stay," the Colombian Government decided to send a message hoping to change the "not wanting to go to Colombia" to "not wanting to leave Colombia," said Stella.

Colombia's ambassador in Spain, Carlos Rodado, highlighted the rich biodiversity that the country has to offer and claimed the country offers the most legal security for foreign investors in all Latin America.
