Colombia airlines announce more flights over Christmas

Four Colombia airlines announced they will increase the number of flights they offer over the Christmas period to meet the high demand of the season.

From November 1 to January 31 carrier Avianca will operate 720 additional flights and 250 charters, Vanguardia reported Tuesday. The airline will make 70,000 more seats available in the national market and 10,000 more seats in the international market.

Avianca will provide more flights to the Colombian destinations of Armenia, Barranquilla, Bogota, Cali, Cartagena, Manizales, MedellĂ­n, Pereira, San Andres, Santa Marta and Pasto, as well as the international destinations of Aruba, Mexico City, Miami and Panama.

Carrier Aires will introduce three additional flights to Santa Marta, two more to Monteria and five more to Medellin. The airline will also begin to operate the Bogota - Cucuta route in response to high demand.

Colombian state airline Satena will offer 25 additional flights between December and January. The airline will provide one daily to San Andres, will increase flights to Cali and will open the Bogota-Bahia Solano route.

Aero Republica will also reportedly have 300,000 more seats available over the holiday season.
