A group of high school girls in west-central Colombia were reportedly possessed by a demon Thursday after playing the board game Ouija, the second group of Colombian teenagers who have fallen under demonic influence after playing the Parker Brothers game in the last two weeks.
About midday Thursday at the José Joaquín Flórez Hernández academy in Ibagué, the group of mostly ninth-grade girls began to writhe, beat themselves and scream phrases that their classmates did not understand, supposedly because a demon had taken possession of their bodies, reported El Nuevo Dia.
The episode occurred shortly after they returned from a break during which they are believed to have played Ouija, the Parker Brothers board game that was also involved in the strange and supposedly demonically influenced behaviour of ten teenage girls in Puerto Triunfo about two weeks ago.
“When we entered the classroom we found a board hung on the wall and all the children began to cry, it had Chinese-like figures written on it, that spoke of phantoms and had a crooked cross written in marker, then the professor grabbed it and tore it off,” said a young female student about the
Two ambulances came to the scene to attend to the students, but determining it was a psychiatric and not a medical issue, instead called asked pastor from a nearby Christian church to attend to them, reported the paper.
“It’s possible that they were affected by an invocation of demons or a game of Ouija, but the truth is that this has no medical or psychiatric treatment, only Catholic priests and pastors can understand it,” said pastor Luis Héctor García.
“These girls were thrown to the floor and striking the ground because this is a situation in which the Devil takes control of the person and obliges them to do all these things. What we are doing is praying for these girls that were supposedly taken, trying to do a liberation, to reprimand these spirits so that they leave their bodies,” he continued.
This is not the first time strange phenomena have visited the Tolima department academy. Similar situations have occurred since May at the school, but only now have they gotten out of control, according to the rector.
One unidentified student told the paper: “A week ago a classmate began to speak in tongues, hit herself and grabbed a stick to hit her brother.”
“What they say is that it seems they were playing with an Ouija board, but that we have to clearly establish,” said Orlando Orjuela, the school’s rector.
