Ten-match ban for Cúcuta manager Pinto

Colombia news - Jorge Luis Pinto

Cúcuta Deportivo manager Jorge Luis Pinto received a ten-match suspension for threatening an official in the league game with Envigado, last weekend. The former Colombia boss is not only banned from the bench, but won't even be allowed to enter the stadiums.

Pinto reportedly threatened and even pushed the fourth official in the game with Envigado, according to national governing body Dimayor. "For this measure to be most effective, we inform mister Pinto that during the suspension he will be not be allowed access to the stadiums," the statement went on to say.

Referee Sebastián Valencia, who awarded a highly controversial penalty near full time of the match between Once Caldas and Boyacá Chicó, which allowed the home side to secure a 2-1 victory, was suspended for five games.

In a surprising move however, Dimayor decided not to suspend the player whose dive caused the penalty, Ariel Carreño.

Recently, two other players received one-match bans for similar offenses but Carreño, who openly admitted to having simulated the foul, won't have to miss any of his side's games in the group stage of the Copa Mustang I.
