Botero considers retirement

Colombian cyclist Santiago Botero will retire if no team wants to hire him for this year's season.

The former individual time trial world champion told Caracol Radio Friday he was still waiting for any concrete arrangements with a cycling team for the coming season.

The 36-year old Botero said that if there is no motivation to hire him anymore he will quit.

Botero started his professional cycling career in 1996 and aside from winning the individual time trial at the 2002 World Championship, he also won the polkadot jersey in 2000. In 2006 the cyclist was accused of doping but acquitted. His last victory was the 2007 Vuelta de Colombia.
