Colombian rocker Juanes on Sunday received criticism from supporters of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez after the singer insulted the leftist leader on Twitter.
Juanes jokingly asked if anyone was interested in the pin code to Chavez's Blackberry, after which he said the code was "H1J0D3PU7A," which with letters substituted for numbers translates as "son of a whore."
The singer then reported receiving fierce criticism from supporters of Chavez, claiming said that some of the president's followers were picking a fight. The Colombian star called on people not to take the joke seriously.
"I made a joke, just like there are many about the same issue," Juanes said, adding that he will "put on my Twitter whatever the fuck I like."
In March 2008, Juanes organized a "Peace without Borders" concert on the Venezuela-Colombia border following tensions between the governments of the two neighboring countries.

... Not to say Chavez is an angel, but the media should really not care what some pot-smoking musician has to say about world leaders. The same for Calle 13 when they bashed Uribe. |

... Talking about comunism you can see by simply reading the previous posts how in a real democracy you refer to anyone as a SOB but in a comunist country the term is forbidden. Why should anyone show respect for Chavez when he is the first on calling names to other people? (Oposición de mierda - that's "opposition of shit" - to anyone who thinks different is one of his favorites not to count the times when he offended the US president by calling him in NYC "Mr. Danger, Mr Devil and even Mrd. Donkey). The comunist people are so hypocritical!!! |

... If chavez wants to pick up a fight over what someone, regardless of how prominent, says on Twitter, that should tell you right there where his priorities are. They are on him, not on the people he is supposed to serve. |

... @Adolfo - The article doesn't say anything about Chavez's reaction or if he even had one. "criticism from supporters of Chavez " He receives plenty of criticism everyday from a multitude of sources...I doubt he is following a pop star's Twitter account. |

... What else can u espect from some one like Juanes ,hi is a hipocrat and he should worry more about the music than try to be a Political and peace hero .I never like his muisic not even when he was a part of a great band call Equimozis Juanes ESCUCHA NO TRATES DE IMITAR A BONO DE U2 QUE NO LE QUEDAS NI A LAS PISADAS. Mejor trata de sacar otro mediocre CD para que los de univision crean que eres un buen artista. |
