Cartagena launches a local Google Maps

colombia, cartagena, map

Cartagena's bars and restaurants will become that much easier to find, after the city premieres an online mapping service this Friday.

The application, known as MIDAS, will provide locals with detailed street maps of Cartagena's precincts. Users will be able to access information profiles for each neighborhood, which will showcase local businesses and also display the number of houses and inhabitants in each district.

The MIDAS software was created by 33-year-old Cartagena native Joaquin Morales Moreno, who said he hopes to provide locals with a modern and simple way of getting to know the city, famed as the jewel of the Caribbean coast.
