Colombian actress and model Sofia Vergara is mourning for her father who died Sunday following a long illness that had kept him bedridden for years.
The actress' father, Julio Vergara, suffered from a stroke several years ago which paralysed a large part of his body and left him practically immobile in bed, reported Terra.
Despite not maintaining a smooth relationship with her father, Vergara kept up to date with the state of his health.
Vergara and her father had not spoken in over a decade, since the separation of her parents. However, it is believed that the actress was the first and only one to ensure that her father was well attended to and provided with all necessary treatments to improve his state.
Julio Vergara died Sunday surrounded by family, although his daughter Sofia (who is currently starring in hit TV series 'Modern Family') was not present and was expected to travel to her home town Barranquilla Monday to say her farewells.
