'Cordoba has hostage release coordinates'

Colombia news - Pablo Emilio Moncayo

According to the father of one of the two hostages, the FARC have given the coordinates of where they will release the hostages to opposition Senator Piedad Cordoba, RCN Radio reported Friday.

Gustavo Moncayo, father of Pablo Emilio Moncayo who has been in FARC captivity for more than eleven years, called on the Colombian government to hold an emergency meeting with Cordoba, the catholic church and the Red Cross to secure a soon release of his son.

According to the church, the Red Cross is ready for a hostage release operation.

The FARC offered to release Moncayo in April this year already. Because of an unwillingness to compromise by both the FARC and the administration of Alvaro Uribe, this release has still not taken place.

The guerrillas and the government now seem to have overcome difficulties and the release of two of the 24 members of the security forces held by the rebels appears to be happening soon.
